Deshpande marked the birth anniversary of Ratan Tata by generously giving cancer drugs to 87 patients, a tribute. Moreover, he also pledged to supply cancer therapies to all patients at its cost price for the entire next year.
"Ratan Tata Sir always believed that cancer medicines shouldn't be a luxury for the rich but accessible to everyone," Deshpande was quoted saying in a report by the Economic Times.

Ratan Naval Tata was an Indian industrialist and philanthropist who served as the chairman of Tata Group and Tata Sons from 1991 to 2012. In 2000, he received the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian honor in India, followed by the Padma Vibhushan, the country's second highest civilian honor, in 2008.
Tata Group is planning to create over five lakh new manufacturing jobs over the next five years from its projects, stated Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran in his New Year message to the Group's employees.
"Our Group plans to create 500,000 manufacturing jobs over the next half decade."
