Vijayawada: Students from NTR district should excel in academics and sports, said MP Kesineni Sivanath.  Emphasizing his commitment to supporting government schools with necessary facilities and infrastructure, the MP inaugurated a sports kit distribution program at Gandhi Municipal High School on Thursday. This initiative, conducted in honour of Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh’s birthday, involved distributing sports kits to 145 government schools in the district using MP Kesineni Sivanath’s personal funds.

Under the banner of "Sports Development," the kits included volleyball nets and balls, throwball nets and balls, tennikoit nets and rings, handballs, shuttlecock nets, skipping ropes, chessboards and coins, kho-kho poles, badminton kits, high jump stands, and takeoff boards.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Kesineni Sivanath expressed his joy at commencing this program at Gandhi Municipal High School, where TDP founder Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao studied. He highlighted that, due to negligence by the previous government, many school grounds were in poor condition, leaving students unable to participate in sports.  Determined to change this, Kesineni ensured the development of grounds, including the setup of long jump pits, in 145 government schools across the district, using his own funds.

The MP praised Minister Nara Lokesh for initiating significant reforms in the education system since taking charge of the portfolio. He recalled the “Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting” as a milestone event and commended the introduction of the midday meal scheme for college students. Lokesh’s efforts to ensure quality education for students and job opportunities for youth were also lauded.

Kesineni encouraged students to persevere despite setbacks and continue striving for success. He announced plans to invite Minister Nara Lokesh to Gandhi Municipal High School, which boasts over 110 years of history. Additionally, he urged alumni to contribute to the development of government schools and pledged to attract CSR funds to reduce the financial burden on the government.

Praising the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in striving for a “Golden Andhra Pradesh” by 2047, Kesineni noted that Minister Nara Lokesh was working tirelessly to create 20 lakh job opportunities across the state.

DEO Subbarao thanked MP Kesineni Sivanath for developing school grounds and providing sports kits, emphasizing that this would encourage students to excel in both academics and sports. State SGF Secretary G. Bhanumurthy applauded the MP’s efforts, highlighting that two national games were held in Vijayawada due to his initiatives, including the recent Under-19 Girls’ National Volleyball Tournament. He announced that the National Sepak Takraw Championships would commence on January 24.

Teachers, students, and alumni expressed gratitude to MP Kesineni Sivanath for his contributions to developing 145 government school grounds and providing sports kits.

Key attendees included DEO U.V. Subbarao, State SGF Secretary G. Bhanumurthy, NTR District SGF Secretary M.
