Bengaluru: The Electronics City Metro corridor, between Huskur Gate and Hebbagodi, has got a colourful facelift with 43 pillars now adorned with vibrant murals that celebrate the city's unsung heroes.
This initiative, Pillars of Bengaluru: Celebrating Everyday Champions, is a collaboration between Biocon Foundation and Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology along with BMRCL.
The murals are not just visually striking but are a tribute to Bengaluru's daily warriors. The murals, which draw inspiration from Channapatna's traditional toy art, pay tribute to pourakarmikas, nurses, tailors, traffic police, IT professionals, doctors and even aerospace engineers.
"The project highlights the essential contributions of everyday champions who play a pivotal role in building, moving, nourishing and safeguarding the city," said Nivet Alva, professor and head of art and transit lab at Srishti Manipal.
Kalpana Kataria, executive director of BMRCL, said: "This project reflects Bengaluru's diversity and showcases the people who truly make the city what it is. There are more similar projects coming soon, giving more colleges the opportunity to participate
