The chief of Parshuram Kalyan Board, a Brahmin body in Madhya Pradesh, Pandit Vishnu Rajoria, has stirred controversy after he claimed that he would award Rs 'one lakh' to Brahmin couples who decide to have at least 'four children'. Rajoria, who holds a rank equivalent to a cabinet minister, asserted that he finds youngsters 'problematic' and that they 'stop after only one kid.' “I have high hopes from the youngsters. You are in charge of safeguarding the next generation, so we can not expect much from the elderly. I urge you to have at least four children,” NDTV quoted him as saying at an event in Indore.

Further detailing the initiative, he said that the reward money will be given with or without him as the president of the Parshuram Kalyan Board. He also clarified that the scheme is a 'personal initiative' and is not associated with any government. “The Brahmin society can fulfill these commitments, including education and training for the children for higher positions,” Rajoria stated.

The remark drew ire from Congress leader Mukesh Nayak, who urged him to 'reconsider' his comment, while the saffron camp distanced itself from the statement, saying it's his 'personal opinion.'

“He is a learned man, my friend. I want to tell him that population growth is among the world's big problems today. The fewer the children, the easier it would be to ensure their education,” Nayak said.

Nayak added that a “paranoia” was being created that Muslims would 'outnumber' Hindus and 'eat them up.'

"These are imaginary ideas. Our country will be powerful only when we are united," he noted.
