BEE to showcase Andhra Pradesh Bhavan For substantial energy savings worth Rs. 6.25 lakhs

BEE declares the completion of Energy efficiency project in AP Bhavan

New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Power led Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) through Andhra Pradesh State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM) the State Designated Agency of AP in co-ordination with Andhra Pradesh Bhavan Officials, has successfully completed the implementation of energy efficiency measures in a record period of one month in Andhra Pradesh Bhavan in New Delhi as part of energy efficiency demonstration project. 

BEE is planning to replicate the similar energy efficiency project in establishments/Bhavans of other State Governments present in New Delhi in a phased manner based on the energy savings realized in Andhra Pradesh Bhavan.

During a program organized by BEE, GoI today at New Delhi in co-ordination with APSECM on the occasion of completion of energy efficiency measures implementation in AP Bhavan New Delhi, the Secretary of BEE R K Rai on behalf of Director General BEE, Abhay Bakre appreciated APSECM for its pro-active role in executing the energy efficiency project just within one month.

He commended Andhra Pradesh for excellent job done in implementing energy conservation and energy efficiency projects and said AP is one of the pioneering States in energy efficiency field in the country. “AP Govt is extending good support for energy efficiency activities which will help to achieve energy security, environmental goals and reduce energy intensity on the economy”, R K Rai said.

“Recognizing the efforts of Andhra Pradesh in energy efficiency, the BEE has chosen Andhra Pradesh Bhavan for implementing Energy Efficiency measures through APSECM that would contribute towards national goal of reducing carbon emissions. Any State can gain from enhanced energy efficiency as it will sustain their efforts to achieve energy security, open up new opportunities for economic growth,  create employment, reduce energy bills and impact on the environment by lessening their use of fossil fuels and emissions of greenhouse gases”, he said.

Special chief secretary energy K Vijayanand, Principal Resident commissioner AP Bhavan Adityanath Das and Resident Commissioner of Andhra Bhavan Saurabh Gour thanked BEE for selecting AP Bhavan for the first time in Delhi and successfully implementing the energy efficiency measures to showcase substantial energy savings.

Resident Commissioner of Andhra Bhavan Saurabh Gour who participated in the program said that the implementation of energy efficiency measures in their premises with free of cost would contribute towards India’s energy efficiency targets. He appreciated APSECM for their quick action in carrying out energy efficiency program implementation.

APSECM has conducted Investment grade energy audit through BEE Empanelled Accredited Energy Auditing firm and implemented energy efficiency recommendations identified in the IGEA report with financial support provided by BEE and without any burden on AP Bhavan. As per the IGEA report of AP Bhavan, it is estimated to save around 1.96 lakh units of electrical energy per annum worth of Rs. 39 Lakhs with reduction of around 139 tons of CO2 emissions. The investment proposed for energy efficiency measures is around Rs.35 lakhs with payback in just 13 months.

Out of the total recommended measures in AP Bhavan, APSECM has implemented several energy efficiency measures to the extent of financial assistance provided by BEE that includes installation of 12 No’s of 190W LED Flood Lights in place of existing Halogen Lamps for Stage Lighting, 170 No’s of  28W BLDC Ceiling Fan in place of existing conventional Ceiling Fans, 14 No’s of 1.8 TR 3 STAR rated Hot and Cold Inverter type  Split ACs and 40 No’s of Motion Sensor for controlling of lights at corridors. These measures are expected to save 49,469 units of energy per annum worth of monetary savings of Rs. 6.25 lakhs to AP Bhavan.

CEO APSECM thanked BEE for its continuous handholding support to APSECM for implementing and promoting energy efficiency programs in the State including Energy efficiency demonstration project in AP Bhavan. He said APSECM has successfully completed the project on 28th March 2023 that is well before the scheduled period of execution”, said CEO APSECM.

He further said that the other energy efficiency measures that have to be looked into are reduction in contracted demand, use of induction cooking appliances in kitchen, Heat pumps etc.
