Bronze statue of Atal Bihari Vajpayee unveiled at Renigunta as part of Atal–Modi Suparipalana Yatra
Tirupati, December 14: As part of the Atal–Modi Suparipalana Yatra, a bronze statue of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee was unveiled at Atal Circle in Renigunta, Tirupati district. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami unveiled the statue in the presence of BJP State President P V N Madhav, Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav, TTD Board Member G Bhanuprakash Reddy and leaders from BJP, TDP and Jana Sena. The programme was organised by Tirupati District BJP President Samanchi Srinivas.
Addressing the gathering, Pushkar Singh Dhami said Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a leader who changed the direction of the nation and completed nearly seven decades in public life without any corruption allegations. He said Vajpayee initiated welfare and development programmes across sectors and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is continuing the same vision with large scale reforms and welfare initiatives.
Dhami said India has made rapid progress under Modi’s leadership, with development and welfare moving together. He noted India’s rise in the global economy, growth in startups, investments by major global companies and advances in digital payments, science and technology. He said India produced its own Covid vaccine and shared it globally, reflecting humanitarian leadership. He also highlighted infrastructure achievements such as Vande Bharat trains and the upgradation of Tirupati airport to international status.
The Uttarakhand Chief Minister said efforts to protect Sanatana Dharma are continuing, citing the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and key policy decisions such as the abrogation of Article 370 and the abolition of Triple Talaq. He said Andhra Pradesh is progressing under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan with major projects like Polavaram and the proposed Google Data Center.
Referring to Uttarakhand, Dhami said the state was formed during Vajpayee’s tenure as Prime Minister and continues to follow the ideals of service, development and welfare inspired by Vajpayee and Modi. He said Uttarakhand implemented a Uniform Civil Code, acted against religious conversions and land encroachments and reclaimed government land to protect cultural and spiritual heritage.
BJP State President P V N Madhav said Vajpayee was a rare leader respected across party lines and remained corruption free throughout his political life. He recalled that Jawaharlal Nehru had praised Vajpayee’s parliamentary speeches and predicted his future leadership. Madhav said Vajpayee boldly positioned India as a nuclear power and ushered in major reforms in roads, IT and telecom. He said a grand statue of Vajpayee will be installed in Amaravati on December 25 as part of his birth anniversary celebrations.
He added that the Suparipalana Yatra and statue unveilings are being held with the encouragement of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and with the participation of alliance leaders to honour Vajpayee’s legacy.
