Fashion and change are synonymous with each other. It can change in a beat of a heart let alone about the change in the entire year. As we step into 2025, we are going to see a focus on merging aesthetics, functionality and sustainability. It would not just be about comfort, it would be about technology, individuality, and setting new standards for personal expression. Let’s note what trends are going to dominate the upcoming year and what industry fashionistas have to say.

Mocha mousse

Pantone Color Institute has selected PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse as the Color of the Year 2025. It reflects a shift toward grounded aesthetics. Sneha Yadav, Fashion Analyst & NIFT alumni, highlights its versatility, noting how this earthy brown complements vibrant hues like emerald green and mustard, creating a balanced palette.

“The Mocha Mousse (Pantone 17-1230), Pantone color of the year 2025 suggests an abundance of neutral colors and the variety they offer, which challenges our view of earthy colors, in contrast to the previous few years when colors like Very Peri (2022), Viva Magenta (2023), Peach Fuzz (2024) were popular. The hue transcends the modest boundary and enters the opulent and ambitious realm of 2025 fashion trends,” she adds Data trends from leading designers show that Mocha Mousse is expected to dominate across categories—from ethnic wear like lehengas and sarees to modern outerwear, scarves, and accessories. Infusion wear, its understated sophistication pairs well with metallic accents, enhancing its appeal for both festive and everyday use. This reflects a growing consumer preference for neutral tones that exude timeless elegance.

Comfort-driven

Fashion in 2025 is going to prioritize comfort without compromising style. Puspen Maity, CEO of TechnoSport, notes that relaxed workwear, including oversized hoodies, flowy joggers, and hybrid co-ord sets, will dominate casual and athleisure markets. “Fashion in 2025 is a stylistically ambitious vision of comfort, creativity, and sustainability. The trends will be all about how you can look good but still be comfortable and confident in what you are wearing. Outfits will be hybrid stylish and casual, allowing everyone to feel like themselves. Relaxed silhouettes such as oversized hoodies, flowy joggers, and co-ord sets would be trending on top,” he mentions. This aligns with data from activewear brands that report increased demand for breathable fabrics catering to active and home-bound lifestyles.

Additionally, Rima Mishra, Founder of Media Tribe Agency, forecasts a rise in playful details such as bubble hems and vibrant reds, offering a creative twist to everyday attire. This emphasis on comfort aligns with the global trend of blending formal and casual wear, providing flexibility in styling.

Consumer choices

Eco-conscious choices continue to shape fashion. Reports from industry leaders reveal that recycled materials, organic fabrics, and innovative production methods are driving purchasing decisions.

According to Prakhar Rao, founder, designer, and creative director of Zero Tolerance, artisanal craftsmanship—such as hand-woven textiles and traditional Indian embroidery—will see a resurgence. The focus on sustainable luxury appeals to a growing demographic seeking ethically produced, high-quality garments.

“Fabrics take on new purpose—luxurious yet sustainable—with organic fibers, reclaimed materials, and hand-woven textiles setting a new standard. At its heart, fashion in 2025 tells stories. Each garment is more than fabric; it’s a reflection of culture, creativity, and conscious design,” he adds.
