Eluru, February 17: There is no need for the public to worry about GBS disease, stated Kolusu Parthasarathy, the State Minister for Housing and Information & Public Relations. He directed medical officials to dispel misconceptions about the disease among the public. He also instructed that all government hospitals in Eluru district should have emergency medicines and injections readily available.

The minister emphasized the need to stock essential medicines in cardiology, neurology, and general medicine departments. Given the reports of GBS cases in various districts, he ordered that emergency immunoglobulin injections be made available. He further stated that GBS patients should receive treatment under the Aarogyasri scheme. In most cases, the disease subsides without treatment, he added.

Minister Parthasarathy explained that GBS starts in the legs and gradually spreads upwards. He advised the public to maintain hygiene and urged those experiencing dizziness or difficulty walking to visit government hospitals immediately. Additionally, he instructed medical officials to ensure the availability of insulin injections for diabetic patients and factor injections for hemophilia patients in all hospitals.

He also stressed the importance of stocking Tenecteplase injections for patients suffering from heart ailments. Since these life-saving injections are not affordable for everyone in the general market, he emphasized that they should be made available in all government hospitals to benefit the underprivileged.

As GBS cases are being reported in other districts, he urged officials to create awareness about the disease.
