Space Technology to Aid Disaster Management
ISRO–RTGS Agreement Signed in the Presence of CM Chandrababu
Enhanced Public Safety in Andhra Pradesh
Amaravati, June 2 – The Andhra Pradesh government has taken a significant step toward integrating space technology in governance. On Monday, at the Secretariat, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between ISRO and RTGS (Real-Time Governance Society) in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
This five-year collaboration aims to upgrade the AWARE platform using satellite imagery and scientific data. The enhanced platform will serve over 42 applications across key areas like agriculture, weather forecasting, disaster management, and urban planning.
By integrating advanced technologies, the platform is expected to deliver better outcomes in disaster preparedness and ensure greater public safety.
The AWARE platform will collect and process data from satellites, drones, IoT devices, sensors, mobile phones, and CCTV networks. It will send real-time alerts and advisories via SMS and WhatsApp to the public.
This partnership will especially improve the speed and accuracy of critical information shared with citizens during emergencies.
The MoU was signed by ISRO Director Rajarajan and RTGS CEO Prakhar Jain, in the presence of Chief Secretary Vijay Anand, IT Secretary Katamneni Bhaskar, and other dignitaries.
