, "The Papamochani Ekadashi significance appears in the ancient Purana scriptures. Sages explain that this Ekadashi destroys sinful reactions accumulated through ignorance. Devotees gain spiritual purity by observing this fast." It adds, " Shri Lord Krishna Himself explains the importance of Ekadashi fasting. He teaches that devotion purifies the soul more than worldly achievements. Faithful observance brings divine blessings. Devotees feel inner peace when they dedicate the day to the Lord. Chanting the Hare Krishna Mahamantra purifies the mind and heart. True devotion awakens a strong connection with Shri Lord Krishna."
Devotees refrain from eating grains and beans on this day. Sattvik food is consumed, while some also observe a Nirjala fast.
Parana refers to breaking the fast, and it's done most on the next day of Ekadashi fast. According to Drik Panchang, " It is necessary to do Parana within Dwadashi Tithi unless Dwadashi is over before sunrise. Not doing Parana within Dwadashi is similar to an offence." It also adds, "Parana should not be done during Hari Vasara. One should wait for Hari Vasara to get over before breaking the fast. Hari Vasara is first one fourth duration of Dwadashi Tithi. The most preferred time to break the fast is Pratahkal. One should avoid breaking the fast during Madhyahna. If due to some reasons one is not able to break the fast during Pratahkal then one should do it after Madhyahna
