Kakinada, October 25: Kakinada Rural MLA Pantam Nanaji has appealed to Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan to increase the unit cost for rural beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme. He submitted a representation requesting that the cost be raised from Rs. 1.59 lakh to Rs. 2.5 lakh for rural beneficiaries falling under the Kakinada Urban Development Authority (KUDA) limits.

Nanaji explained that houses were allotted in the same layout to both rural and urban residents, yet there existed a clear disparity in the sanctioned amount. While urban beneficiaries receive Rs. 2.5 lakh per unit, those from rural areas get only Rs. 1.59 lakh. He urged the government to correct this imbalance to ensure fairness among all beneficiaries.

Responding to the appeal, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan assured that the matter would be taken to the notice of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

The MLA also presented another memorandum seeking funds for the construction of new roads and drains, and for the repair of damaged roads in the panchayats under Kakinada Rural constituency.
