MANGALAGIRI: Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh inaugurated the modernized Model Public Library near the Shivalayam in Mangalagiri. Developed at a cost of Rs 1.72 crore, the project is part of the Minister's broader initiative to advance the constituency across all sectors.
The library holds historical significance as its foundation stone was laid in 1986 by former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao under the name "Telugu Vignana Samachara Kendram." The facility has now been revitalized and modernized under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Lokesh.
Modern Amenities and Funding
The modernization project was funded through CSR contributions, including Rs 90 lakh from Guntur District Mineral Funds, Rs 42 lakh from AP Technology Services (APTS), and Rs 30 lakh from Novo Insurance Broking Services.
The renovated structure offers comprehensive facilities across two levels. The ground floor features a children's reading and play area, a section for newspapers and periodicals, and dedicated spaces for senior citizens and the general public. A cafeteria is also available for visitors. The first floor is designed to support students and job aspirants, housing two teaching halls, a study room, a digital library, and a digital resource center specifically for competitive exam preparation.
Nostalgic Moment
During the visit, Minister Lokesh took a moment to capture a selfie next to the original foundation plaque laid by his grandfather, N.T. Rama Rao, in 1986. After inspecting the new facilities and issuing instructions to officials regarding maintenance, he interacted with the public, received petitions, and posed for photographs with locals.
The inaugural event was attended by Grandhalaya Parishad Chairman Gonuguntla Koteswara Rao, APTS Chairman Mannava Mohan Krishna, Education Welfare Infrastructure Corporation Chairman S. Rajasekhar, and other local leaders.
