Andhra Pradesh State Batraju Caste Association has elected a new state executive committee. The meeting, held at the State BC Sankshem Bhavan in Gollapudi, Vijayawada on Sunday, unanimously elected “Palagiri. Chandrakala” of Annamayya district, affectionately known as the “symbol of Bhatraj’s self-respect” by the members of the Rashtra Bhatraju caste. She was elected as the women president of the Andhra Pradesh Rashtra Bhatraju Caste Association.

Speaking on the occasion, Chandrakala said that her aim was to empower the Bhatraja caste women of Andhra Pradesh economically, socially and politically and would be available at all times to provide assistance to every Bhatraja caste woman in the state. The kings, who have learnt, the Batraja caste, which was the “scholarly caste”, should not be referred to in society as “ Bhatraju Pogadthalu” for their metaphors and parables. She thanked Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy for giving utmost priority to women politically. She also appealed to the Chief Minister to ban the word "Bhatraju pogadthalu” and protect the self-respect of the Bhatraja caste. The meeting was attended by state president Fakir Raju, general secretary Lepakshi Ishwara Raju and other members of the working committee, as well as members of the Bhatraja caste from across the state.
