TODAY Lala Lajpat Rai Birth Anniversary 2022

Known as 'Punjab Kesari' or the 'Lion of Punjab', Lala Lajpat Rai essayed a pivotal role in India’s independence movement. He was a great historian, eminent editor, social and religious reformer, and powerful orator. He was also the founder of ‘Servants of the People Society’ at Lahore in 1921, which worked in various fields. In 1920, Lala Lajpat Rai was elected as the President of the Indian National Congress.

He was one of the prominent leaders of the Congress who formed the trinity of militant leaders ‘Lal-Bal-Pal' (Lala Lajpat Rai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, and Bipin Chandra Pal). So to mark his contributions during the freedom struggle, every year on January 28, India observes the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai.
