Significance of Shab-e-Barat
Shab-e-Barat, also known as the "Night of Forgiveness," is an important occasion in the Islamic calendar. It falls on the 15th night of the Islamic month of Shaban and is believed to be the night when destinies for the coming year are written. Many people spend the night in prayer, seeking forgiveness and blessings.
Visiting the graves of loved ones is a common practice on this occasion. Families clean and decorate graves, offer prayers, and reflect on the lives of those who have passed away. Some people also observe fasting the next day as a mark of devotion. Acts of charity, such as distributing food to the needy, are also an essential part of the observance.
Though Shab-e-Barat is not a general holiday in Telangana, many institutions, particularly in Hyderabad’s Old City, are likely to remain closed as people participate in religious activities.
