Hariyali Amavasya 2025: In Hinduism, the Amavasya (new moon) tithi holds immense religious significance. Its spiritual importance grows even more when it falls during the auspicious month of Sawan. The Amavasya in this month is widely celebrated as Hariyali Amavasya, as it coincides with the monsoon season, a time when the environment thrives with greenery and purification 

This year, Hariyali Amavasya falls on Thursday, 24 July 2025. On this sacred day, devotees perform rituals like holy river baths, charity, Lord Shiv worship, and ancestral offerings (tarpan). In addition to these spiritual practices, planting specific trees and plants is also considered highly auspicious on this day, it can attract prosperity, peace, and divine blessings.

Here Are A Few Sacred Plants To PLant On Hariyali Amavasya:

  • Tulsi (Holy Basil): Revered as one of the most sacred plants in Hinduism, Tulsi is believed to bring prosperity and purity to the home. It is also deeply associated with Lord Vishnu. Planting Tulsi on Hariyali Amavasya is considered a spiritually uplifting act.
  • Shami Tree: Sawan is dedicated to Lord Shiv, and planting the Shami tree is believed to invoke his blessings. This tree is also known for attracting good fortune and prosperity. Additionally, it is said to bring the blessings of Lord Shani (Saturn).
  • Bel (Bael) Tree: The Bel tree holds a special connection with Lord Shiv. Offering Bel leaves (Belpatra) is an essential part of Shiv worship, especially during the Sawan month. Planting this tree near your home on Hariyali Amavasya is believed to bring spiritual merit and divine grace
