New Delhi, March 12: Vijayawada Member of Parliament Kesineni Shivanath (Chinni) met Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi on Thursday and requested the Centre’s support for the development of sports infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh.
The meeting took place in the Parliament premises in the presence of Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Chairman Ravi Naidu and Managing Director Bharani. During the interaction, the MP discussed the current status of sports development in the state and sought assistance from the Central Government to strengthen sports facilities.
As part of the proposal, Andhra Pradesh has submitted plans for 53 sports infrastructure projects across different parts of the state under the Khelo India infrastructure scheme, with an estimated cost of ₹1,106 crore.
Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya responded positively to the request and assured that funds for the proposed projects would be sanctioned soon.
MP Kesineni Shivanath, along with the SAAP Chairman and Managing Director, also submitted a written proposal to the Union Minister detailing the locations where the sports projects are planned to be established in the state.
