Women empowerment a national priority: Governor Abdul Nazeer

Vijayawada, March 7: Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Chancellor of Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam, Sri S. Abdul Nazeer presided over the 22nd annual convocation of the University held at the University Auditorium in Tirupati on Saturday.
Delivering the Convocation address, Governor Sri Abdul Nazeer has said that in the twenty-first century, the empowerment of women through education is not merely a social goal, but a national priority. Educated and empowered women strengthen families, communities, and the economy and they contribute to the inclusive growth, social harmony, and sustainable development, said the Governor.
He said that the National Education Policy-2020 has placed emphasis on flexibility, multidisciplinary learning, digital transformation, skill development and research. The Governor further said that the State of Andhra Pradesh is taking visionary steps by establishing India’s first Quantum Valley, reflecting its commitment to advanced research and technology-driven development and Institutions like SPMVV will play a vital role in ensuring that women are at the forefront of this transformation and contribute meaningfully to building an innovative, sustainable, and self-reliant India.
The Governor congratulated all the students who received their degrees, medals, and awards in the Convocation. He also congratulated Dr. Shashikala Sinha on the Honoris Causa conferred on her by the University. Earlier, Prof. Uma Vennam, Vice Chancellor, presented annual report of the University. Later, Prof. Uma Vennam, Vice-Chancellor felicitated Governor Sri Abdul Nazeer with a memento.
Smt. Sameera Nazeer, First Lady, Tirupati District Collector Dr. S. Venkateswar and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
