Jana Nayagan created an all-time record in Tamil cinema by selling over 12.7K tickets

Thalapathy Vijay’s final film, Jana Nayagan, is slated for a grand Pongal release on January 9, 2026. After the film’s release, Vijay will fully shift his focus to politics. Directed by H. Vinoth, the action drama is based on Balakrishna’s Bhagavanth Kesari. The makers have released a couple of songs so far.

Advance bookings have begun in the UK, and the latest update reveals that Jana Nayagan has created an all-time record in Tamil cinema by selling over 12.7K tickets within 24 hours. Interestingly, the previous record was also held by Vijay’s much-hyped Leo.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s directorial which had monstrous hype sold 10K within 24 hours, and Jana Nayagan broke it by a good margin now. The sensational initial trend clearly indicates that audiences are set to give the Tamil star hero a grand send-off.

Pooja Hegde plays the female lead, while latest Bollywood sensation Mamitha Baiju will be seen in a pivotal role. Bobby Deol, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, and Narain play supporting roles. Venkat K. Narayana of KVN Productions is bankrolling the film, and Anirudh Ravichander is the music composer.
