Vijayawada, January 21: Governor of Andhra Pradesh Sri S. Abdul Nazeer has participated as Chief Guest at the celebration of State Formation Day of the Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura, held in Raj Bhavan here on Sunday, as part of ‘Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat’ programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Sri Abdul Nazeer has said that the Northeast region is an important part of India and is well known for its rich tourism, culture, and tradition. Manipur means “a jeweled land,” and Meghalaya, means an ‘abode of the clouds,’ and Tripura, is known for its rich culture and tradition, and all three are small beautiful States surrounded by mountain ranges, lush green valleys and possess rich bio-diversity, said the Governor. He said that India’s rich cultural heritage and history, and the development of the country is based on the principles of non-violence, justice, diversity of languages, culture, religion, tied in a thread of unity and the ‘Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat’ programme promotes mutual understanding between different States and the concept of ‘One Nation - One People.’
On this occasion, students from Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura rendered folk songs and, staged traditional folk dances showcasing the culture and tradition of their States. Guests from Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura and students from these three states studying in local universities, and officers and staff members of Raj Bhavan have attended the programme.
