The Andhra Pradesh government approved investments worth Rs 1.9 lakh crore, promising to generate 2.64 lakh jobs across the state. Chairing a State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) meeting on Monday, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to ensure timely clearances and provide necessary amenities to fast-track industrial projects
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) is leading the investments with a Rs 96,862 crore refinery in Nellore district, spanning 6,000 acres and expected to create 2,400 jobs. The refinery project includes a township and is projected to bring in Rs 88,747 crore in revenue over the next 20 years. The Chief Minister urged officials to ensure its completion by 2029.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is expanding operations in Visakhapatnam with a Rs 80 crore investment, creating 2,000 jobs, while Azad India Mobility Limited plans an electric vehicle manufacturing unit in Satya Sai district, generating 2,381 jobs over six years.
The state's clean energy sector also received a major boost. Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited will establish a Rs 2,000 crore solar power project in Kurnool district, creating 1,380 jobs. Reliance Industries Limited is investing Rs 65,000 crore to generate over two lakh jobs, with several other clean energy projects in the pipeline.
Naidu emphasised the need for seamless execution and urged officials to adhere to timelines to attract more investments and maintain the state's industrial momentum.
