Hyderabad: 17th December 2023. In a major development in the realm of energy Efficiency and Conservation, A Chandra Sekhara Reddy has been engaged by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, government of India as the Nodal officer for South India for the Union government’s prestigious LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) Mission. The latest decision of BEE engaging Regional Media Advisors for North & South have gained significance as Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself launched the LiFE Mission (Lifestyle for Environment) after he had advanced the idea of LiFE Mission at COP26 in Glasgow in 2021 and attracted All advanced Countries towards this Noble Cause. This Mission seeks to rally individuals as 'pro-planet people' embodying BEE's commitment to promoting various energy conservation initiatives via effective communication strategies.
Currently serving as the senior advisor for business development and government affairs in South India at the Energy Efficiency Services Limited under the Union power ministry, Reddy has additionally been named as Southern Regional Media Advisor for the Bureau of Energy Efficiency through Notification
Headquartered at Hyderabad, His core responsibility involves supporting state designated agencies (SDAs) across Southern states like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. This entails collaborative efforts with these agencies, state government bodies, and power utilities to establish measurable and sustainable energy efficiency goals.
Reddy's keen focus on Major Metropolitan Cities like Hyderabad’s diverse industries and global corporations signifies an opportunity for the state to champion advancements in energy efficiency. He emphasized, “Telangana’s robust industrial and business landscape serves as a breeding ground for adopting sustainable measures, significantly contributing to a greener future. The industrial sector plays a crucial role in fostering a global exchange of best practices, showcasing the pivotal role in urban centers and corporations, play in transitioning to sustainability.”
At the core of his mandate is forging partnerships with external entities, industry associations, and government agencies to amplify the impact of energy efficiency campaigns.
His primary responsibilities encompass promoting efficient energy usage, conservation, clean energy transition, and the "LIFE" mission at the state and union territory level. Collaboration with influencers, Experts and thought leaders remains integral to disseminating messages to previously unreached audiences.
Leveraging his extensive communication expertise, Reddy navigates the energy conservation landscape by spearheading impactful campaigns, offering mentorship, and initiating environmental endeavors. As a mentor to regional designated agencies of Southern States, he guides media-related activities, promoting eco-friendly measures through energy efficiency programs and coordinating conferences at various levels.
Chandra Sekhara Reddy's illustrious three-decade-long public service journey reflects his unwavering dedication to this cause. His tenure spans from serving as special PRO to Former Chief Minister Sri Kotla Vijayabhaskara Reddy to holding positions like Press Secretary to EX Chief Minister Sri Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy, and continuing under Former Chief Ministers, Sri K Rosaiah & Sri N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
His upward trajectory, from Executive Director at AP TRANSCO in 2009 to CEO of the state energy conservation mission (SECM) in 2012, is adorned with accolades, including five national energy conservation awards in between 2016-22 including the national award for achieving the first place from the Hon’ble President of India Droupadi Murmu on 14th December 2022.
