VISAKHAPATNAM: Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao said Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was strengthening women financially by providing the benefits of all the welfare schemes to them.

He was speaking at a programme where he released funds for the third phase of the Aasara Scheme at Killipalem village under Srikakulam mandal on Tuesday.

He said Jagan Mohan Reddy, during his padayatra held before the 2019 elections, understood the problems being faced by women across the state. It was then only he promised that top priority would be given to the welfare of women, after coming to power.

Accordingly, after winning the elections, the Chief Minister introduced women-centric welfare schemes, honouring his poll promise, said Prasada Rao.Thus, the minister said, women should again vote for the YSRC if they want the schemes to continue in future.

Dharmana said opposition leader N. Chandrababu Naidu had been spreading false propaganda that the YSRC government was wasting money by spending unnecessarily on welfare schemes. Perhaps Naidu did not realise that the money was being spent on the poor, the construction of schools and hospitals which were not in good shape in the previous government, he said.
