The Andhra Pradesh government will organise Nandi Natakotsavam for seven days in October and 73 Nandi awards to be given in five categories.

AP Film Development Corporation managing director T. Vijaya Kumar held a meeting with the senior artists on preparations for the conduct of Nandi Natakotsavam here on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that they were making all arrangements to conduct the event in a prestigious and transparent manner and assured efforts to fix a suitable venue for the conduct of the Nandi Natakotsavam that would be acceptable to all stakeholders.

He said that in order to revive the past glory of the Telugu drama, the state government had directed them to conduct the event in five categories, including poetic and social plays and social playlets, children’s playlets, and college or university students’ playlets.

He said that the state government had already issued a notification for the conduct of Nandi Natakotsavam on July 5, and entries would be accepted up to August 5, and entries could also be withdrawn up to August 12.

The APFDC MD said that they were seeking entries of plays presented state-wide from 2018 to 2022 and added that after preliminary scrutiny of entries, 10 poetic plays, six plays, 12 social playlets, five children’s playlets, and five college or university students’ playlets would be selected for presentation during the cultural fete. He called upon the artists to give priority in their plays to new stories representing Telugu culture and traditions, human values, and other characters depicting a high-quality lifestyle.

He said that the last Nandi Natakotsavam was held in 2017, and due to various reasons, it was not continued subsequently.
