Meeting with Gold Traders – AP Commercial Taxes Department
A special meeting was held on 11.02.2026 under the leadership of the Chief Commissioner of the Andhra Pradesh Commercial Taxes Department with associations related to gold and precious stones trade. The meeting discussed the need for implementation of the e-way bill (Rule 183F) for gold transportation. In view of increasing unauthorized transport and misuse of delivery challans in the gold trade, the e-way bill was deemed necessary to ensure a transparent business environment. Officials stated that implementation of the e-way bill would protect honest traders, reduce unnecessary obstacles, and help control tax evasion.
It was proposed that for gold valued above ₹10 lakh, e-way bill implementation would be mandatory for all types of transportation within the state, including B2B supplies, job work, hallmarking, polishing, and repairs. Even if transported by means other than motor vehicles, the e-way bill would be compulsory. As per legal provisions, stock registers and transaction records must be maintained at every stage. The Chief Commissioner emphasized that e-way bill implementation would enhance transparency in trade, reduce tax evasion, and provide protection to honest traders.
These programs were presided over by Chief Commissioner of State Tax, Mr. Babu A., IAS, with participation from the Special Commissioner and other senior officials.
