Amaravati, March 3, 2025: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu addressed a Workshop on Population Dynamics and Development, organised by SRM University in collaboration with the Department of Planning, Government of Andhra Pradesh, at the SRM campus. He spoke extensively about the importance of managing population dynamics for economic growth, sustainable development, and social stability.
CM Naidu expressed his enthusiasm for engaging with the youth on this vital subject and noted how his visionary leadership had previously driven Andhra Pradesh’s growth in IT, infrastructure, and education. He recalled how, in 1995, no one foresaw the IT revolution, but today, Hyderabad and the Telugu community stand as proof of its success.
A New Approach to Population Management
Reflecting on past policies, CM noted that in 1995, he supported the two-child norm to address poverty and economic constraints. However, he stressed that demographic changes now require a different strategy. With ageing populations becoming a challenge worldwide, he advocated for a more balanced approach where larger families contribute to economic growth and workforce sustainability.
He referenced global trends in countries like China, Japan, and Germany, where population decline is impacting economies. He emphasised that India, particularly states like Andhra Pradesh, must act wisely to utilise its human capital effectively.
Economic Growth and Vision for Andhra Pradesh
CM Chandrababu Naidu outlined an ambitious economic roadmap, aiming to make Andhra Pradesh a $2.4 trillion economy by 2047. He stressed the need for a consistent 15% growth rate to achieve this goal. He also highlighted the importance of infrastructure development, stating that Rs 40,000 crore would be invested in roads and buildings, with central institutions expected to bring in Rs 1 lakh crore in investments over the next few years.
He spoke about the Swarnandhra Vision 2047, which aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Viksit Bharat 2047 initiative, ensuring Andhra Pradesh plays a leading role in India’s long-term growth.
Technology and Innovation: A Key Pillar
The Chief Minister reaffirmed his commitment to integrating cutting-edge technologies into governance, education, and industry. He emphasized the potential of AI, quantum computing, deep technology, IoT, and green energy, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a hub for technological advancements. He encouraged institutions like SRM University to take a proactive role in this transformation by investing in research, skill development, and entrepreneurship.
He also mentioned the state’s plan to transition Amaravati into a 100% solar-powered city, reinforcing his focus on sustainability and green energy.
Empowering Women and Youth for a Stronger Future
He laid out several initiatives to empower women and youth. He advocated for women to have more opportunities for remote work while balancing family responsibilities, emphasizing that women could potentially earn more than their husbands. He also promoted 33% reservation for women in education, ensuring greater access to academic and professional opportunities.
He encouraged students and young entrepreneurs to join hands with the government in implementing Ten Principles (Padi Sutralu), aimed at shaping a prosperous and inclusive society. He assured them of his full support in building a startup ecosystem that would generate employment and wealth.
Building a Stronger Future with Strategic Investments
The CM announced that SRM University is set to receive 200 acres of land if it promises to accommodate 50,000 students, with plans to establish a medical college, skill development centres, and research hubs in quantum computing and deep technology. He urged SRM to adopt 10,000 families and support them in education, employment, and entrepreneurship, ensuring that wealth reaches every level of society.
CM Naidu also stressed the importance of P4 (Public-Private-People Partnership), a mission to encourage the rich to support the poor and uplift society as a whole. This initiative will be officially launched on Ugadi.
A Global Perspective on Population and Migration
CM noted that India’s large population, if managed well, can be a powerful global asset. He pointed out that if 20 crore Indians migrate globally, they could dominate global industries and become among the wealthiest communities. He also revealed that Andhra Pradesh is currently collecting data on people who have migrated to other states and countries to better utilise their expertise for the state’s development.
A Strong Commitment to the Future
Concluding his speech, CM Naidu assured students that he would create the best possible environment for their growth, bringing top universities and institutions to Andhra Pradesh. He reiterated his vision of “One Family, One Entrepreneur”, ensuring every household contributes to economic progress.
He also highlighted his commitment to women’s well-being, promising childcare centres in workplaces and sanitary napkin vending machines in offices and educational institutions to improve their quality of life.
He thanked the young students for their confidence in his leadership and their wish to see him as Chief Minister for years to come. “I will never accept defeat. I will ensure Andhra Pradesh reaches new heights,” he concluded with determination
