Amaravati:After winning the confidence of people through people- friendly policies and by balancing both welfare and development during 2025, now the coalition government has set ambitious goals for 2026 focusing on resolving revenue issues, providing dispute-free land to farmers, expanding welfare and development, boosting wealth creation and accelerating industrial growth, while stepping into the New Year.
It may be noted that the coalition government achieved remarkable successes during 2025 by fulfilling majority of the promises made during the elections. Since assuming office, the coalition government has been racing ahead in implementing welfare schemes and the “Super Six” schemes turned out to be a big success.
Coming to Welfare schemes under Talliki Vandanam, Rs 10,090 crore was directly credited to mothers’ accounts, benefiting 67.27 lakh students and underr the Stree Shakti scheme, free bus travel facility for women was launched on August 15, and so far 3.25 crore journeys were registered costing Rs 1,144 crore to government. Free bus travel was also extended to persons with disabilities. Referring to farmers welfare under Annadata Sukhibhava, 46 lakh farmers benefited as Rs 6,310 crore credited to their accounts. Through the Deepam–2 scheme, three free LPG cylinders per year were provided to women, with an expenditure of Rs 2,684 crore and nearly two crore cylinders distributed so far.
Coming to social security pensions, the State set new records by distributing over Rs 50,000 crore, a historic milestone achieved in 2025. Under Matsyakara Bharosa, Rs 250 crore was distributed to 1.25 lakh fishermen at Rs 20,000 per beneficiary per year.
The welfare schemes include Auto Drivers’ Welfare Scheme in which Rs 436 crore was credited to 2.90 lakh beneficiaries at Rs 15,000 each. Honorariums were paid to 8,427 pastors costing Rs 51 crore, while Imams and Muejjins received Rs90 crore annually. Salaries of priests and Nayee Brahmins were enhanced, and junior lawyers were provided a monthly honorarium of Rs 10,000. Besides one lakh sewing machines were distributed to women, free power to handloom weavers, power concessions to looms, 10 per cent liquor shops reserved for toddy tappers, SC sub-categorisation without disputes, a separate corporation for goldsmiths, and Rs 3,670 crore spent on minority welfare.
The coalition government revived the previously scrapped Anna Canteens and established 204 canteens statewide, serving over four crore meals so far.
Coming to Employment creation as part of coalition government’s promise to provide 20 lakh jobs, the government conducted a Mega DSC, recruiting 15,491 teachers, and completed recruitment of 5,757 police constables. Stipends for trainee constables were increased from Rs 4,500 to Rs 12,500. Gratuity benefits were extended to Anganwadi workers and ASHAs.
Referring to Industrial Growth Andhra Pradesh registered remarkable growth during 2025, particularly in IT and AI data centres. Visakhapatnam is going to emerge as global IT hub with establishment of Google AI Data Centre for which Minister Nara Lokesh played a key role. Cognizant, TCS and other IT giants also set up operations.
The coalition government introduced 23 new industrial policies and became the first State to open escrow accounts for industrial incentives. The CII Summit in Visakhapatnam resulted in 610 MoUs and attracted investments to a tune of
Rs 13.25 lakh crore to create 16.13 lakh jobs.
Amaravati’s capital construction accelerated with investments exceeding Rs 50,000 crore, while the Quantum Valley initiative took shape. These decisive reforms and the speed of doing business earned the Chief Minister the Business Reformer of the Year–2025 award. The yogandhra organized in Visakhapatnam for which Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended turned as a biggest success by setting World record, major events like the Super GST meet held in Kurnool successfully.
With the initiative of Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, the Panchayat Raj system was revitalised with village roads, Gram Sabhas, tribal road connectivity under Adavi Thalli Bata, 4G connectivity to remote villages, promotions and release of Finance Commission funds. Drinking water projects worth Rs 3,050 crore were designed to benefit 1.21 crore people.
The government completed Handri-Neeva canal expansion within 100 days, improved irrigation and drinking water supply in Rayalaseema and raised groundwater levels by 6.08 metres. Polavaram works progressed rapidly with faster R&R payments.
To protect the interests of farmers the government procured 34.23 lakh metric tonnes of paddy and credited Rs 8,120 crore into accounts of 5.48 lakh farmers within 24 hours. Market interventions provided with Rs 1,100 crore support for crops like tobacco, mango, cocoa and onion. The State recorded double-digit economic growth at 11.28 per cent during the financial year. Revenue reforms included issuance of official Pattadar Passbooks, repeal of the NALA Act, and allocation of free house sites. Keys were handed over to beneficiaries of three lakh houses.
Coming to Healthcare and education reforms included the Sanjeevani pilot project is being implemented in Kuppam and as part of it digital health records were developed.
Electricity reforms introduced by state government reduced power purchase costs from Rs 5.19 to Rs 4.80 per unit and lowered tariffs through True Down implementation. Clean energy investments worth Rs 3 lakh crore were attracted. The state government providing free rooftop solar for 20 lakh SC/ST families.
Crime rates declined in the state with stricter enforcement and with the establishment of the Eagle Task Force against drugs. The state witnessed improved governance through WhatsApp governance and data-driven decisions.
The government prepared a three-region master plan to develop all the three regions including Visakhapatnam, Amaravati and Tirupati. During the year, the state government is able to revive around 90 central schemes, secured support for Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and attracted semiconductor industries, expanded highways and railway projects. Two new districts were approved, increasing the total number of districts from 26 to 28
