Vijayawada, 8th October: In a remarkable endeavor to bolster the power supply to industries and chart a course towards sustainability in the power sector, the Andhra Pradesh government has embarked on an ambitious journey, forging partnership with key player in the energy efficiency domain, soliciting the expertise of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a JV of National PSU ‘s under MOP,GOI, to usher in cutting-edge energy efficiency technologies, thus fortifying power generation and supply, and achieving sustainability in the sector.

Proactively promoting energy conservation, the state champion’s initiatives curbing fossil fuel demand, heralding a cleaner, greener future.
Andhra Pradesh is proactively enhancing industrial power supply to accommodate rising industrial activities in the state. Disclosing the above the Spl. CS Energy Dept. K. Vijayanand during interaction in vidyut soudha with EESL Sr. Executives Animesh Mishra, Savitri Singh, Adesh Saxena, Ashish, and Pawan said that in collaboration with EESL, the energy department is Keen for advanced energy-efficient Global technologies in the areas of Energy Efficiency to ensure power sector sustainability.
Responding to the request of Spl.CS, EESL. CEO Vishal Kapoor who has participated through online from Delhi has agreed in Principle to provide support, aiming to enhance power reliability in Particular by imparting latest Technologies for fostering economic growth and sustainability in the region.
Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to renewable energy is epitomized by the groundbreaking Andhra Pradesh Renewable Energy Export Policy, 2020. The policy not only encourages renewable energy production but also incentivizes the establishment of renewable energy equipment manufacturing facilities within the state. This would also help to promote industrialization in the State and create employment as well as achieving sustainability of power sector. Furthermore, the state government has called upon power utilities to channel their efforts towards providing industries with top-tier power quality.
An integrated approach, involving various departments and utilities, is being orchestrated to expedite energy efficiency initiatives within the State with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and EESL playing pivotal roles in stimulating the state’s economy through enhanced energy efficiency. The state’s power utilities have stepped up to meet surging power demands, successfully recording an average demand of 218 MU, a significant jump from the 161 MU registered just four years ago.
With the valuable Guidance and support of the Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and the monitoring of energy Minister P. Ramachandra Reddy the Discoms have successfully supplied 24/ 7 Power supply to Consumers even met highest power demand of more than 262 MU during summer. This impressive growth trajectory signifies the state’s relentless pursuit of progress Spl CS said.
Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) which is keen to provide highest quality of power enhances its support to Discoms for energy efficiency with robust regulations. The Andhra Pradesh government is taking proactive measures to enhance energy efficiency through strategic Energy Conservation Cells (ECCs), raising awareness about the role of energy conservation in mitigating climate change. Spl CS has suggested EESL to interact with industries dept. of AP for studying on enhancement of energy efficiency in industries
As per the suggestion of Spl CS Energy, EESL CEO pledged continuous support, stating, “We are ready to aid Andhra Pradesh’s pursuit of sustainable energy. EESL, a global leader in energy efficiency, emphasizes the UJALA project’s significance. UJALA, a flagship initiative of the Indian government, promotes energy-efficient LED bulbs in every home. As of October 3, 2023, India’s UJALA initiative has distributed over 36.86 crore LED bulbs, 72.18 lakh LED Tube lights, and 23.59 lakh energy-efficient fans, leading to remarkable outcomes. These efforts have resulted in an annual energy savings of 48.42 billion kWh, a reduction in peak demand by 9,789 MW, and a significant cut in greenhouse gas emissions by 39.30 million t CO2. Moreover, consumers are benefiting from an annual monetary savings of INR 19,334 crore on electricity bills. Beyond the numbers, UJALA has played a vital role in the Make in India campaign by fostering a thriving domestic market for LED bulbs and promoting local manufacturing.
