Social Welfare Minister Merugu Nagarjuna has said several students of the AP SC Gurukuls have excelled in the JEE Mains examinations this time. As many as 93 students got a chance for admissions in NITs and 151 students qualified for JEE Advanced.

“The students of SC Gurukuls have achieved excellent results in the first round of JEE examinations,  compared to the performance of students of the corporate educational institutions,” the minister told the media on Thursday.

JEE and NEET training centers are functional at Chinnatekur (Kurnool district), Adavi Takkellapadu (Guntur district) and Edupugallu (Krishna district) under the aegis of the SC Gurukula Vidyalayas organisation

As for the JEE Advance exams, several SC students have scored up to 99.05 percentile marks in various subjects in the JEE first round (main) exams.

Nagarjuna said overall, in all subjects, Varada Pawan Kumar of Chinnatekur training centre scored 96.61,  Mallepogu Avan Kumar scored 95.49 and Ravana Kiran Kumar scored 95.39 percentile, while G Manojna of Edpugallu scored 95.60 and Ajay Bhargav of Adavi Takkellapadu scored 93.63 percentiles and stood as the toppers in the Gurukuls.

Based on the cutoff marks required to get seats in NITs, 93 students out of the 151 students who have qualified for the JEE Advance exams from the Gurukuls are expected to get seats.

“Some of these students scored the highest marks in some subjects, while in some subjects their marks have decreased. All these students will be given the necessary training to get seats in the general category, based on their talent, and not from the SC quota, by giving them special training for the JEE multiple-phase exams," the minister added
