Peace and Security Are the Foundations for Investment and Development
AP is Targeting Zero Crime Rate with the Help of AI
It Was Technology That Caught Viveka’s Killers
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at AI4AndhraPolice Hackathon 2025
Guntur, June 27: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has called on the Andhra Pradesh Police to work towards making the state crime-free by leveraging technology. Speaking at the "AI4AndhraPolice Hackathon 2025," the Chief Minister cited the Viveka murder case a prime example of how technology can aid in investigation.
The hackathon focused on enabling the police department to adopt advanced technological tools for faster investigations and better crime control. The event was jointly organized by the Andhra Pradesh Police and four AI companies from the United States and over 160 teams participated in the hackathon. CM Chandrababu Naidu interacted with several of these teams, discussing how technology can enhance police services and improve departmental efficiency.
Viveka Murder Case and The Power of Google Takeout
Addressing a special session during the event, the Chief Minister said, “The Government of Andhra Pradesh is fully committed to development. But progress is only possible when law and order are under control. That’s why even during my earlier tenure as Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, I placed a strong emphasis on peace and security.”
He stressed the need for a shift in police operations and processes, departing from the traditional methods. “It’s encouraging to see the AP Police recognizing the value of technology and organizing such a hackathon. Investigations must now make full use of tech-based tools. In the Viveka murder case, I was wrongfully accused. People made inflammatory remarks, calling it a ‘blood-stained history.’ But through the use of technologies like Google Takeout, the CBI unearthed the truth. Even today, the concerned people haven’t changed. A former Chief Minister recently showed support for rowdy-sheeters in Tenali. Everyone saw what happened during their visit to Palnadu district. They commit wrongs and then play victim. The only way to counter such falsehoods is through technology,” he asserted.
Not Just Government or Police, Youth Must Also Embrace Technology
CM Naidu highlighted that both the government and police are increasingly relying on technology, and this hackathon is a clear example of this trend. “Through WhatsApp Governance, we’re delivering public services. Technology not only improves service delivery but also enhances accountability in governance. We are deploying drones and CCTV cameras across the state. If rowdies create trouble, we’ll have video evidence to take swift action. No one can be allowed to freely cultivate, sell, or use marijuana. No one can get away with harassing or assaulting women. Even before the AI era, we were able to maintain control. Now that advanced tools are available, gathering evidence has become much easier. If someone breaks the law, the government will take the necessary action without hesitation.”
He encouraged youth to benefit from technological progress. “In the past, we promoted IT. Now, with Quantum Valley, we’re about to showcase Telugu brilliance. Just like Silicon Valley in the U.S., we are building Quantum Valley here. The world is now moving towards a model of ‘Work Locally, Think Globally, Act Globally,’” the Chief Minister said.
Union Minister Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, and DGP Harish Kumar Gupta were also present at the event.
