In a signification development, the Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL), an esteemed joint venture of public sector undertakings under the Union Ministry of Power, has agreed in principle to support Andhra Pradesh government to usher in a new era of energy efficiency within the "Navaratnalu- PedalandarikiIllu" project.
This will help to facilitate cost effective energy-efficient appliances to the beneficiaries on a voluntarily basis creating a monumental positive impact on their economic status, environment, and overall quality of life. The housing department has continuous talks with EESL about this energy efficient project and wants to make this as the best and biggest programme in the country. With a pioneering vision to transform Andhra Pradesh into a national leader in the area if energy efficiency, the Govt..has expressed its unwavering commitment to spearhead this ambitious initiative.
During a review of the Jagananna Colonies housing scheme, including its energy efficiency aspect, with the Managing Director Housing Development Corporation Lakshmi Shaw, Joint Director , Siva Prasad, and senior officers from EESL,. Delhi..Animesh Mishra and Nitin Bhutt, the special chief secretary for Housing, Ajay Jain, expressed that the Housing department is keen on utilizing the services of EESL, which is a joint venture of highly reputed National Power Utilities PSUs of GoI,with Global reputation for the benefit of the program's beneficiaries. The EESL has agreed in principle for implementing global standards of energy efficiency in each and every household encompassed by this revolutionary scheme.
He further emphasized that AP stands alone as the sole state in the Nation that has taken such innovative steps, showcasing an unprecedented step to reducing electricity bills and promoting sustainable development practices among its beneficiaries.
The Housing Department, entrusted with the successful implementation of the "Navaratnalu- PedalandarikiIllu" project, reports a commendable progress by grounding 20.45 lakh houses which have been already under construction out of the sanctioned 21.3 lakh. The Govt..is firm to complete around 5 lakh houses by the end of July 2023. The beneficiaries expressed unparalleled satisfaction with the allocation of house plots and the government's approval of their housing requests.
In the current financial year, the total expenditure under the PMAY (U) scheme, which includes beneficiary payments and material procurement, has reached an impressive Rs 2201 Crore. The Chief Minister Shri. Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy is very keen on not only 24 hrs qualitative power supply in Jagananna colonies but also to facilitate highly qualitative energy efficient electrical appliances in particular, said Ajay Jain.
To empower beneficiaries and expedite the housing construction process, the govt..has extended a loan of Rs 35,000 to each beneficiary, totaling a staggering 12,17,143 loans so far, with an approximate value of Rs 4288 Crore. Moreover, the govt. has sanctioned an allocation of Rs 3,266 Crore under the JJM (Jal Jeevan Mission) to provide water supply to 9332 layouts.
Ajay Jain said that Chief Minister's unwavering commitment to ensuring dignified living conditions and empowering the low-income and marginalized population fuels the Housing Department's efforts to make A. P. the leading state in pioneering housing programs. With a focus on providing not just shelter but safe, decent, and affordable homes, the Chief Minister aims to transform the lives of deserving families and turn their dreams into reality. The ambitious YSR Jagananna colonies, constructed under the guidance of Chief Minister Y.S. JaganMohan Reddy and Housing Minister Jogi Ramesh, will stand as a testament to Andhra Pradesh's unwavering commitment to social development.
Ajay Jain expressed his gratitude to Chief Secretary K S Jawahar Reddy for his continuous support and valuable suggestions to the department for the cost-effective implementation of energy-efficient electrical appliances through EESL. He also thanked the energy department for their contribution to the development of infrastructure to ensure a quality power supply.
Housing department MD, Lakshmi Shaw said that these extraordinary colonies go beyond providing residential infrastructure by offering a wide range of essential social amenities, including administrative buildings, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, recreational spaces, financial institutions, sports stadiums, and religious establishments. The government's commitment to comprehensive development is evident in the provision of physical infrastructure, such as well-constructed roads, efficient drainage systems, reliable water supply, electrification, and internet connectivity.
Notably, Andhra Pradesh has set itself apart by allocating substantial funds for infrastructure, establishing its position as a leader in housing programs for the economically weaker sections and an unprecedented example for the entire country. Also the Andhra Pradesh government's housing program promises a brighter and more prosperous future for its deserving beneficiaries.
