CM's stress on early resolving of disputes through mediation to support economic growth of India
CM seeks support of judiciary to evolve mechanism for early disposal of disputes
VISAKHAPATNAM: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said the state government is ready to establish international arbitration centre in Visakhapatnam with the support of judiciary. Stating that India's growth is unstoppable and it is goiong to emerge as global leader in economy growth by 2047.
Participating as distinguished guest of International Mediation conference organised by Asian Cenetre for International Arbitration and Mediation here today, the Chief Minister stressed the need to develop a mechanism to reduce disputes through Alternative Dispute Resolving systems using technology to support the economic growth of India.
Stating that Lord Krishna is best mediator, the Chief Minister said mediation for dispute resolving is not new and it is an age old practice in villages, where village elders used to resolve disputes through mediation. Citing the example of his father who used to resolve disputes in his village as well as surrounding villages, the Chief Minister stressed the need for developing biggest ADR centre in Visakhapatnam better than Singapore. Singapore mediation and Arbitration centre is stated to be best mediation centre globally.
The Chief Minister explained the scope of Visakhapatnam emerging as global technology hub with data centre to be set up by Google within one or two years. He said the state government developing Quantum computing centre in Amaravati and at the same time developing space city, drone city.
He said that the state government has been providing 700 services through whatsapp using technology and real time data.
At the same time he stressed the need for bridging the gap between haves and have nots for a healthier society.
Earlier addressing the gathering National Law Institute Bhopal Vice-chancellor Prof S Suryaprakash suggested International school of maritime law in Visakhapatnam with existance of long coast line and increasing maritime disputes. He said at present maritime arbitration going on from Mumbai. He said at present Gujarat only has maritime university.
AP High Court Chief Justice Dheeraj Singh Thakur training given to 1400 mediators and 800 more will be trained by December. He said at present there is no method of judging skill or some mechanism to judge the capacity of mediators. Integrity and Honesty play key role in mediation and arbitration.
Addressing the gathering Supreme Court judges Suryakanth and PS Narsimha trust plays key role resolving disputes through mediation.
