The Chief Minister stressed the use of technologies like data analytics to prevent tax evasion. He said that efficient tax collection would contribute to national wealth, which should be used for public welfare and development.
He said proper coordination between Central and State GST officials is necessary for better GST realization. The CM added that there should be a competitive action plan to match neighboring states in GST collections. He said tax data should be analyzed using data analytics, and even factors like electricity consumption should be considered to detect evasion.
CM Chandrababu Naidu directed GST officials to ensure there is no scope for tax fraud in Andhra Pradesh.
Information to be shared through a data lake
The Chief Minister said that the goal of his government is to make every system function efficiently. He noted that AP ranks 4th in the country in attracting investments and said it is his ambition for the state to be the best in all sectors. He mentioned that the development of Hyderabad in the past continues to contribute 75% of Telangana’s income and cities like Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, and Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh will also reach that level.
The CM stressed that there should be no errors in GST registrations. He said the state government will soon build a data lake combining all departmental information in one place, which will also be shared with Central GST officials. He elaborated that if the state receives its rightful share of resources, there will be no need to approach the Centre for every small issue. He directed officials to work with organizations like CII to raise awareness and prevent tax evasion, and to act strictly if evasion still continues.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that GST collections in the state have increased by 3.4%. They added that the upcoming GST tribunals in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada will help resolve tax disputes.
Central officials requested the Chief Minister to allocate 5 acres of land in Amaravati for constructing the Central GST Zonal Office and residential quarters.
