Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is planning housewarming at 3 lakh houses of backward classes and scheduled castes and tribes’ people on June 12, the day the NDA coalition government completes one year in office. The CM has instructed the entire state machinery involved to complete the houses and hand them over to the beneficiaries before the deadline. Significantly, Chandrababu Naidu has announced an additional financial assistance of ₹50,000 to BCs and SCs and ₹75,000 to STs to complete their houses ahead of the deadline.
Following a meeting in this regard, housing and information minister Kolusu Parthasarathy underlined that the coalition government has already given ₹1.87 lakh to each of the beneficiaries, apart from providing every Dwacra woman beneficiary a loan of ₹35,000 at low interest. The minister underlined that nearly six lakh beneficiaries will benefit from the Chief Minister’s announcement of granting ₹50,000 additional financial assistance to BCs and SCs, and ₹75,000 to STs. He mentioned that the state government has so far released ₹300 crore to the beneficiaries of houses, apart from ₹202 crore to BC, SC and ST beneficiaries.
Parthasarathy said of the 3 lakh houses, 1.70 lakh houses have already been completed, while another 60,000 houses are nearing completion. The remaining houses are in various stages of advanced construction. He emphasised that officials are endeavouring to complete these houses. The minister said housing department officials are in touch with the beneficiaries and motivating them to complete their houses with the additional financial assistance provided to them.Special chief secretary (Housing) Ajay Jain is daily reviewing the stage of house constructions with various district collectors and housing officials.
The special CS has appointed special officers and set targets for them to ensure that the timelines are met. Andhra Pradesh State Housing Corporation managing director M. Siva Prasad is closely monitoring the progress of construction. He has held a review meeting via WebEx with field officers, directing them to continue motivating beneficiaries to complete their houses. Senior engineering officials, including chief engineer Padmanabhaiah and superintendent engineers Jayaramachary and Krishnaiah, are conducting site inspections and supervising on-ground activities. Collectors are reviewing the construction of houses at the district level to ensure their completion in a timely manner.
