AP Government Approves New Sports Policy: The AP government has given good news to sportspersons. To this end, CM Chandrababu ( approved the new sports policy with sports for all policy in the state. A review meeting on the sports policy was held at the secretariat on Monday. Ap should be the best sports policy in the country.
'Amaravati to be a sports city'
The CM suggested that integrated sports complexes should be set up in Tirupati, Vizag and Amaravati, including the creation of Amaravati as a sports city. "Sports schools should be set up in Kadapa, Vijayawada and Vizianagaram. Sports development centres at mandal and constituency levels and playgrounds in gram panchayats should be set up. Traditional sports should be encouraged in villages. Mountain biking, water sports, nature photography and trekking should be arranged," the CM instructed the officials.
The CM said that the policy has been formulated with four objectives to make the state a sports hub. The government has decided to increase the sports quota in government jobs from 2 per cent to 3 per cent. Also, the incentives for Olympic and Asian Games winners have also been increased. The incentive for winning a gold medal at the Olympics has been increased from Rs 75 lakh to Rs 7 crore. Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, SAP Chairman Ravi Naidu, CS Neerab Kumar and other senior officials participated in the meeting.
Earlier, the officials who formulated the Sports for All Sports Policy explained this to CM Chandrababu. The development of sports complexes in collaboration with stadiums and institutions under the PPP mode was also discussed. Sports for all, talent recognition, world-class training, incentives, support for sportspersons, job security, world-class facilities, coordination with sports associations, organizing national and international level events, sports tourism are some of the issues that have been given top priority in the policy. The CM has examined all these proposals thoroughly. Important decisions were taken. The policy proposes to provide 3 per cent reservation in uniformed services, including an increase in sports quota reservation in jobs. 50 per cent reservation will be provided to those who have won international medals for grade 3 coaches in SAP.
Huge incentives for them
Cm Chandrababu opined that if good incentives are given to the medal winners, it will be more encouraging for them. In this order, the incentives given to medal winners at the Olympics and other international level competitions have been increased drastically. The incentive for gold medallists at the Olympics has been increased from Rs 75 lakh to Rs 7 crore. The incentive for silver medallists has been increased from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 5 crore, while for bronze medallists, the incentive has been increased from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 3 crore. Similarly, an incentive of Rs 4 crore will be given to those who win a gold medal at the Asian Games, Rs 2 crore for a silver medal and Rs 1 crore for a bronze medal.
