Strive to Secure Funds for State Development”
“Engage in Continuous Dialogue with the Centre on State Projects”
CM Chandrababu at TDP Parliamentary Party Meeting
CM Lauds MPs for Active Participation in Parliament and Constructive Debate
Amaravati, July 18:
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has called on Members of Parliament to intensify efforts to secure the necessary funds and advance key developmental projects for the state. Chairing the Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party meeting at the camp office on Friday, the Chief Minister was joined by Minister Nara Lokesh and several party MPs.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Chandrababu emphasised the importance of utilising Parliament sessions effectively. He urged MPs to raise crucial issues such as the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers, river water disputes, and industrial development. He stressed the need to present the state government’s initiatives on these matters to the Centre's attention through Parliament.
“Our MPs Have Shown Exemplary Performance”
The Chief Minister praised TDP MPs for their consistent attendance and active engagement in Parliamentary proceedings. “Our MPs are performing commendably. While the national average attendance among MPs stands at 85%, TDP members have surpassed it with 86.2%, placing them at the top nationally,” he said.
Highlighting their efficiency, he noted that TDP MPs lead in both participation in debates and the number of questions raised. He encouraged them to continue voicing the state’s concerns while also acknowledging the commendable work being undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “He is the right leader at the right time. Through initiatives like Operation Sindoor, a strong message has been sent to terrorists. MPs should actively engage in discussions on issues such as Operation Sindoor and the 50th anniversary of the Emergency, and affirm the Centre’s position where appropriate,” he added.
“Continuous Consultation on State Issues is Critical”
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of regular engagement with the Union Government. “MPs have been assigned responsibilities according to specific departments. You must maintain consistent dialogue with Union Ministers regarding issues and pending matters, while ensuring coordination with the state administration,” he directed.
Highlighting a recent achievement, he noted, “It was due to continuous consultation that we were able to push ₹180 crore worth of bills related to NREGA back into process.” He urged MPs to similarly focus on central schemes such as Jal Jeevan Mission and the Ayushman Bharat Health Mission to secure additional funding.
“MPs must be thoroughly informed on all issues and keep relevant data ready. You must also remain alert to evolving political developments. I was able to advocate effectively for the state’s interests at the recent CMs’ meeting of Telugu states in Delhi because I was equipped with accurate and comprehensive information,” he noted.
“Strengthen Engagement with people”
Reflecting on the people’s mandate, the Chief Minister said, “Despite the state’s challenging circumstances, the people entrusted us with power and elected a significant number of MPs. We must now honour this mandate and leverage it for the state’s development.”
He urged MPs to strengthen their connection with constituents and refrain from involving themselves in irrelevant matters. “Do not act in a way that reduces your role to that of a one-time MP. Serve in line with the people’s expectations,” he said.
CM Chandrababu highlighted the visits of Prime Minister Modi to Andhra Pradesh following the formation of the coalition government in 2024. “The PM visited our state three times and took part in prestigious programs such as Yoga Andhra. We hosted these events successfully, enhancing the state’s image on the national stage. We must capitalize on this momentum.”
He directed MPs to ensure that mango farmers receive appropriate support from the Centre, to engage in discussions on reducing GST for the pulp industry, and to bring recent developments in Andhra Pradesh to the notice of Parliament.
He also called for focus on contemporary initiatives such as Quantum Valley, Green Hydrogen Valley, population management, and the P4 initiative. “When matters related to criminal politics are raised, present the actual developments taking place in the state with clarity,” he added.
“Compelled to Engage in Politics Alongside Criminals”
During the meeting, CM Chandrababu referred to recent developments and expressed concern over the criminalization of politics. He stated that Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s behavior exemplifies the dangers of allowing criminals into political life.
He recalled, “When Singaiah’s wife alleged that her husband died under Jagan’s car, Jagan—himself an accused—invited the family to his residence under the guise of offering condolences, and coerced her into falsely claiming that Lokesh had offered her ₹1 crore to file the case.”
He also drew parallels with the Viveka murder case. “When I expressed grief over Viveka’s death, they turned the tables and accused me. They went as far as publishing stories about a ‘demonic blood history.’ When someone dares to level murder accusations against a sitting Chief Minister, it reveals the extent of their brazenness. Unfortunately, we are now compelled to navigate politics alongside such individuals.”
He concluded by urging MPs to remain vigilant and raise public awareness about these disturbing trends. The Chief Minister also briefed the MPs on the discussions held during the recent meeting of Chief Ministers from Telugu states in Delhi.
