Amaravati, — Andhra Pradesh, Sri Nara Chandrababu Naidu, inaugurated the Mahatma Gandhi Academic Block one of its kind of largest academic blocks in the country,3new Hostel Blocks, and launched the global innovation challenge — V-Launchpad 2025 today in the university campus.
Chief Minister, who had laid the foundation stone for the Central Block of VIT-AP in 2016, has graced the occasion as chief guest today and inaugurated the Mahatma Gandhi Academic Block — India’s largest single academic block. Standing tall at 45 meters and spanning 7.68 lakh square feet, the block houses cutting-edge classrooms, lecture halls, collaborative learning spaces, and a 700-seater auditorium. His visit to the campus signifies a powerful milestone in the institution’s remarkable journey towards becoming a global center of learning and innovation.
In addition, Nara Chandrababu Naidu garu unveiled the new Men’s and Women’s Hostel Blocks, namely the V. V. Giri block (2.31 lakh sq.ft), Acharya N. G. Ranga (2.26 lakh sq.ft), block and Durgabai Deshmukh (2.26 lakh sq.ft) Blocks. These facilities aim to provide students with a nurturing and inspiring environment for academic and personal development.
The day also witnessed the official launch of V-Launchpad 2025 – Global Innovators Challenge for Swarna Andhra @2047, a groundbreaking initiative designed to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership among students and startups. Now in its 4th edition, this year’s challenge has gone global, with 800+ teams registered from premier national and international institutions, including IITs, IIMs, NITs, Rochester Institute of Technology (USA), Arizona State University, IBS Global (Poland), and others.
Themed around "Sustainable Solutions for Swarna Andhra @2047", V-Launchpad 2025 aims to catalyze transformative solutions addressing global sustainability challenges. With a robust mentorship framework, industry-academia collaborations, and global visibility, the initiative underscores VIT-AP’s role as a catalyst for impactful innovation and entrepreneurship. Hon’ble Chief Minister interacted with start-ups who set up their stalls in the university as part of Vlaunch PAD 2025
Speaking at the event Chief Minister lauded VIT-AP’s vision and infrastructure, expressing pride in its contribution to shaping Andhra Pradesh as a global knowledge and innovation hub. As part of the Swarnaandhra Roadmap 2047, the government envisions transforming Amaravati into a Quantum Valley, a global hub for advanced technology and innovation. The roadmap aims to grow Andhra Pradesh’s economy to $2.4 trillion and raise the per capita income to ₹58 lakhs by 2047.
CM appreciated the VIT Group Founder and Chancellor Dr. G. Viswanathan for establishing VIT-AP University in Amaravati, which has achieved an impressive 95% placement rate for its graduates. The government envisions the university expanding its student strength to 50,000 by 2047.
With the establishment of institutions like VIT-AP, Amaravati is rapidly emerging as an education hub, attracting numerous prestigious universities. The government remains committed to enhancing education standards across the state. Students are encouraged to "think global, go global," dream big, and work hard to achieve their goals.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by distinguished dignitaries including Sri Kandula Durgesh, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Cinematography; and Sri Tenali Sravan Kumar, Hon’ble MLA, Tadikonda Constituency.
