AMARAVATI: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu condemning the false campaign on development of medical colleges in PPP mode lead to privatisation, made it clear that there was no truth in YCP leaders claim on reduction in free medical seats in PPP mode. He said that if we develop ten medical colleges in PPP mode, overall 110 additional medical seats will be made available every year for AP students in the proposed ten medical colleges. In addition 70 per cent beds will provide treatment at free of cost, diagnostics and medicines also will be provided free of cost.
Giving a power point presentation on health sector in Legislative Assembly today, the Chief Minister said that one should not resort to cheap politics for political mileage through false campaign. He said by opting for PPP mode development of medical college the government can save Rs 3,700 on development of colleges and Rs 500 crore per year on operation and management of colleges. He said the quality of health care and medical education can be provided through PPP mode development. Stating that PPP mode development is not new and several other states including UP, Odisha, Jharkand also adopted the PPP mode for development of medical colleges and hospitals. The Chennai IIT, Udaipur IIM and IIT Nagpur also expanding infrastructure through PPP mode.
The Chief Minister during 2020-21 the YCP government spent only 1550.39 crore against total estimated investment fo Rs 8480 crore on sanctioned 17 new medical colleges and not commenced operation of 11 medical colleges. However the NDA government spent Rs 786.82 crore in one year to revive the pending projects of the medical colleges.
Stating that infrastructure development must for medical colleges for medical health care and medical education, the Chief Minister said PPP means it is not privatization of medical colleges. The colleges will be handed over to Government after 33 years.
Citing the example Jegurupadu power plant which was given on PPP mode, the Chief Minister said after completion of 33 years, the plant was now handed over to Government. He said if the government has to develop the medical colleges, it will take 20 years and assured to develop all the ten medical colleges under PPP mode in two years. He said PPP is not new and after economic reforms all sectors including roads, airports, telecom and other major sectors were developed under PPP mode.
The Chief Minister said that the previous YCP government destroyed all sectors including primary education quality through introducing English medium of education. The quality standards maintained during 2014-19 came down.
The Chief Minister assured better health care for all with modern and advanced treatment facilities with digital health records. He said hundred bedded multi speciality hospital will developed in all constituencies to improve health of poor.
