Future for Natural farming, AP ahead in natural farming:CM
KAMALAPURAM (Kadapa Dist): Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said Andhra Pradesh is ahead in natural farming in the country with cultivation in around 18 lakh acres. He said the future is for natural farming states with growing demand for organic products as per the prediction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said farmers should change cultivation pattern as per the changing food habits of people and give priority for cultivation of those crops in demand.
The Chief Minister credited Rs 3,135 crore into the accounts of 46,85,838 farmers under Annadata Sukheebhava – PM Kishan second installment here today. The state government deposited Rs 3,175 cr into accounts of farmers under the scheme in first installment. Later addressing farmers, the Chief Minister said farmers should reduce cultivation costs using technology. He said that he knows the travails of Rayalaseema farmers and stressed the need of increasing ground water levels. He said the ground water in Rayalaseema is available at 100 feet only in the past and now it is available at 7.3 meters. He said increase in ground water pave way for environment protection. He said using Pattiseema the Krishna water was supplied to Rayalaseema region. Water was released to Rayalaseema through Handri-Neeva.
The Chief Minister said using technology farmers should reduce cultivation cost and minimise usage of fertililsers and pesticides. He said by soil testing suitable crops will be advised to farmers. He said that the state government signed MoUs with several companies to set up 38 food processing units at a cost of Rs 13,000 crore to benefit farmers. He said AP is ahead in Aquaculture, Horticulture and encouraging coffee and coco plantation in Araku. He said that the state government coming to rescue of farmers at the time of natural calamities through market intervention to provide minimum support price. He said Rs 310 crore distributed as compensation due to natural calamities. In addition paddy worth Rs 15,955 cr was purchased from farmers.
