Amaravati, September 26: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu described the launch of BSNL’s indigenous 4G network as a historic moment for the country crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for enabling transformational changes in the telecom sector.
Speaking at the inaugural event, the Chief Minister said that India had long suffered due to the absence of strong leadership but under Modi initiatives like the indigenously developed 4G stack had become a reality. He recalled that since 1995 his vision was to see India advance in technology and the information sector and pointed out that his earlier reports and decisions on deregulation had paved the way for revolutionary reforms in telecom.
Naidu noted that BSNL has now emerged as a powerful institution with one billion subscribers and lauded the creation of one lakh 4G sites across the country delivering four petabytes of data daily. He also highlighted the connection of 26,707 remote villages with 4G technology as a major step forward for inclusive progress.
Underscoring India’s achievements the Chief Minister said the country’s COVID vaccine had saved lives in over 100 nations while UPI digital payments introduced during his tenure are now in use in countries like France and Singapore. He further pointed to the global usage of Indian-made cell phones under the Make in India initiative.
Naidu stressed the role of technology in empowering citizens stating that in Andhra Pradesh alone 735 public services are being delivered via WhatsApp. He cited the impact of smartphones among 14.3 lakh DWCRA women which he said had improved economic conditions and living standards.
Looking ahead he predicted the rollout of 6G by 2030 and announced that Quantum Valley would be operational by January 2026. He also emphasized the need to reduce dependence on foreign apps that currently receive 90 percent of payments calling for more patents to be filed so that Indians could become global leaders in innovation.
“Prime Minister Modi has strengthened BSNL by allocating additional funds ensuring better services for the people. With AI and quantum technologies becoming a reality India is on the cusp of a knowledge economy revolution,” Naidu said.
