Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is now concentrating on strengthening the Telugu Desam from the grassroots level through a training programme for TDP leaders and activists. The training is currently on for two days at the TDP state headquarters in Mangalagiri. It covers both organisational and political aspects at the constituency level. This programme, Naidu said, would impart political knowledge and strategies, highlight the salient points of the Swarnandhra Vision-2047 and the P-4 initiatives, while also fostering leaders’ involvement in party activities from the booths to the state level.
The programme would be rolled out across the state after the Mahanadu. It would initially cover five constituencies, including Visakhapatnam North, Chintalapoodi, Tenali, Penugonda and Kanigiri, as part of a pilot project. The party has meticulously chosen constituencies that it did not win in the last polls, or those having both the MLA and in-charge positions vacant. Sessions for the constituencies of Visakhapatnam North, Chintalapoodi, Tenali, Penugonda and Kanigiri have concluded
TD leaders said the party high command plans to gather feedback on the programme's benefits and the opinions of trained activists and leaders, to extend similar training to the remaining constituencies across the state after the May 27-29 Mahanadu. Notably, training for 47 party members from the Kuppam constituency was held in the first week of April. The ongoing training targets individuals who have actively opposed the previous YSR Congress government, supported the TD, and successfully managed booth operations while increasing TDP membership.
In these sessions, participants are being educated on TDP’s principles, the party's mission, leadership qualities, and the initiatives being undertaken for the welfare of activists, along with the effective use of social media. Senior leaders, ministers and MLAs are directly engaging participants in discussions. Future classes may include sessions from professors and industry experts. Telugu Desam leaders said a critical component of this training initiative is to identify and address the challenges faced by grassroots activists. The party aims to collect opinions on local conditions and governance over the past 11 months, and the effectiveness of the MLAs. This information will be compiled into a comprehensive report for the party leadership. There are plans to incorporate additional topics like yoga and sports into future training, as well as to potentially extend the training duration. The programme also emphasizes the effective use of social media at the mandal level. Party activists are being trained on how to counter negative propaganda from YSR Congress and leverage social media for constructive messaging
