Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has reviewed the relief efforts in the cyclone-affected districts in a meeting he held with district collectors and SPs via video conference mode. He directed them to adopt a compassionate approach and help the affected people by all means.

The chief minister announced an ex-gratia of Rs 30 lakh to the family of a deceased cop. He directed the collectors, SPs and other senior officials of the cyclone-affected districts to focus full attention on restoring normalcy.

During the review meeting held at the Camp Office here on Wednesday, the CM lauded the district collectors and special officers for their good work in taking timely steps and helping the victims in the affected areas.

He asked them to be liberal in extending financial help to the victim families and without minding the finances involved. "The extent of financial support should be the same as we expect as victims," he said, adding that the victims should feel that the collectors have come to their rescue in difficult times.

"The people whose houses were damaged should be paid `10,000 each while those being sheltered in relief camps should be treated well and given compensation. Rations should be given to them without fail when they leave for their home. There should be no lacunae on this part," the CM told the officials.

"Give priority to clearing the water from inundated agricultural fields with all available human resources and protect the crops as per the SOPs issued by the RBKs," he said.

Asserting that the government would stand by the loss-suffering farmers at every step from protecting the crops to purchasing the wet paddy by paying them adequate compensation, the chief minister asked them to convey this message to the farming community in clear terms.

He said the agricultural department should be ready to supply seeds on an 80 per cent subsidy. The official machinery should also focus on restoring power supply and road communication in the affected areas while paying attention to sanitation to prevent the spread of diseases. The government would also stand by the staff involved in relief and rescue measures, he has stressed.

The chief minister announced Rs 30 lakh as ex-gratia for the family of the constable who died in the line of duty during the cyclone and said the state government would support all employees -- from volunteers to village secretariat staff to higher-level employees -- in difficult times.

Home Minister T Vanita, chief secretary Jawahar Reddy, DGP Rajendranath Reddy, special chief secretaries Sai Prasad (revenue and disaster management), Sri Lakshmi, (MA&UD), K Vijayanand (energy), Krishna Babu (health), home principal secretary Harish Gupta, civil supplies commissioner Arunkumar, Panchayat Raj commissioner Suryakumari, civil supplies corporation MD   Veera Pandyan, housing special secretary Mohammad Deewan, disaster management director BR Ambedkar and other senior officials were present
