The Andhra Pradesh government would present a report on the changes it has introduced in the healthcare and nutrition sectors, along with reports on several other important schemes that are being implemented in the state at the Niti Aayog governing council meet in New Delhi on May 27.

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy held a meeting with top officials on Tuesday and asked them to identify the state’s subjects to be taken up at the Niti Aayog meeting.

Accordingly, the state will present reports on the family doctor concept, Aarogyasri, the Nadu-Nadu programme in hospitals, healthcare to mothers and children and appointment of more doctors and other healthcare personnel in the government hospitals, the 104 ambulance services, PHCs and Village Health Clinics.

Special care was being taken in family doctor concept for patients suffering with hypertension and diabetes. The existing teaching hospitals and the upcoming ones are/would be having labs and cath labs to handle cancer. Such matters would be highlighted in the reports.

The CM called for synchronisation of data from various government departments like women development and child welfare, health and education. He asked officials to help the new born babies get Aadhaar number and keep track of the services like provision for nutritious diet, admission in anganwadi centres and schools, healthcare, and vaccination. These, as also the state’s progress in education, should be cited in the reports.

The officials would also cite the series of programmes being taken up by the state government on women empowerment and explain how the Cheyutha scheme is helping the women to gain financial subsistence.

He also asked the officials to present the details of schemes like Aasara and loans at zero interest rate and explain how these have helped women. Officials should also highlight how several programmes taken up as part of Disha helped women to be safe and secure. Nearly 30,000 such interventions were made in the state, he noted.

The CM stressed the need to expedite implementation of programmes in the skill development sector by taking an Assembly segment as a hub and setting up a skill centre in each district headquarter to help the graduates acquire new skills.

He made a mention of the AP skill development scam involving Rs 371 crore at the time of the previous TD term and underlined the importance to ensure accountability in the use of funds.

The state government would also present at the Niti Aayog meet the kind of support it has extended to MSMEs and the progress the state achieved in the development of infrastructure and investments.

Officials have been asked to also highlight the ongoing works at ports including Ramayapatnam Machilipatnam and Mulapeta in addition to the works at the 10 fishing harbours and six fish landing centres.

The reports would also highlight how airports at Kadapa and Kurnool were given a facelift and about the upcoming Bhogapuram airport and another airport near Nellore.

The Niti Aayog Governing Council will discuss issues related to Vikas Bharat@2047, MSMEs, development of basic amenities and investments, women empowerment, healthcare and nutrition, skill development, Gati Sakthi and social infrastructure, officials said.
