The coalition government has created a new online platform as part of its student health care measures.
For the first time in the country, a digital portal has been created exclusively for adolescent students in the age group of 13-19 years under the 'Andhra Pradesh School Wellness Programme'. The government is using technology in healthcare.
In the method of prevention
A new portal with state-of-the-art technology has been prepared so that students can know the importance of health care, the ill-effects of addictions, entertainment and good practices. State Medical and Health Minister Shri Satya Kumar Yadav said that the new portal of APSHWP has been made available so that children can learn self-learning especially on the topics of personal hygiene, health care, abstaining from substance abuse, gender equality, HIV, prevention of road accidents and safe use of internet and social media. Under the 'Digital Learning Management System' under the State Adolescent Health Programme *, training programmes are being conducted for selected teachers and lecturers working in government high schools and junior inter-colleges to explain the importance of the portal to students. The Minister said that in continuation of the training given to the master trainers by the Medical and Health Department officials, training programmes are being conducted for 150 teachers and lecturers in each district. In a statement today, Minister Satya Kumar said that the portal was born out of the ideas of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
Portal made of reliable, scientific information
Usually, students are exposed to the information they need through teachers or through TV, media and social media platforms. This information is misleading for a variety of reasons. Veerapandian, Commissioner, Health and Family Welfare Department, said that in order to tap into this trend, specific credible and scientific information has been made available through the portals exclusively for the students.
Attractive features:
In this portal, information on 11 major topics has been made available so that all the students can use it. What should be the priority of health care, mental health, personal relationships? Video lessons on various topics such as Moral Values - Importance, Importance of Nutrition, Personal Hygiene and other topics were created in the portal in Telugu and English languages with videos of less than 15 minutes duration. For example, girls are told in video lessons about menstruation, personal hygiene and the deterioration of health that comes with the use of intoxicants. Also... There are video paragraphs on the portal that show the hardships and losses that can be faced due to the influence of social media. e-learning in the form of games, participation in quiz competitions and online examinations will be issued certificates by the Department of Medical Health.
There are 37,297 registered users.
The Department of Medical Health has provided the facility for students to know the information on the portal in the registration process. According to the latest information, 36,297 students have learned new things through the portals. 75% of the participants are girls and each e-module from the portal provides a quiz in the form of question-answer and talent-based certificates are automatically issued to the participants who have scored 80% marks. The registration process will be done on a continuous basis and the name, mobile number and email ID will be provided to log in to the portal.
Co-ordination between government departments
As per the vision of Chief Minister Shri Chandrababu Naidu, the 'APS HWP' portal has been developed by the Medical and Health Department so that children can directly know all the details of their daily lifestyle. In partnership with Rashtriya Kishore Swastha Karyakram, AIDS Control Society, UNICEF, Department of Education, Ministry of Women and Child Development and AIIMS Mangalagiri, a comprehensive digital platform has been created in which every information, scientific information in accordance with the laws and government regulations, has been made available through portals by the Department of Medical Health.
