Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed officials to solidly stand by the industrialists and investors and ensure that all their enterprises are launched within the stipulated time.

The Chief Minister chaired the state investment promotion board (SIPB) meeting here on Tuesday. He asked officials to strictly enforce the specially enacted law that provides 75 per cent jobs to locals in private and government-sponsored industries.

Jagan Mohan Reddy said district collectors should monitor implementation of the law and send reports to him every six months. The SIPB approved several new projects at its meeting.

"We are providing land and other facilities to new industries with a condition that they must give 75 per cent of the jobs to locals. This would ensure cooperation of the locals, which is important for the smooth functioning of these units."

The Chief Minister asked the officials to ensure that the law is implemented in letter and spirit in all industries. Officials must also focus on developing desalinated water and supplying it to the new units to avoid scarcity of water for agriculture and drinking water purposes. "The desalination method adopted by Israel is good for us too," the CM said.

He said officials must also ensure that the companies pay MSP to the farmers on purchase of their produce.

The projects approved by the SIPB included JSW Neo Energy. It got the green signal to set up a 1500mw hydro storage power project with an investment of 8,104 crore at Bakkannavari Palli of Vempalle mandal in YSR district. It will produce 3,314.93 million units of power every year and offer employment to 1,500 persons. The work would start in December, 2024.

The Hero Future Energies' affiliated company, Clean Renewable Energy, would set up a 225mw solar unit at Kotapadu in Nandyal district and 150 mw wind power units at Boyala Uppuluru in Anantapur, Nandyal and YSR districts. The company would invest 2,450 crore and start work in October 2023 by completing the last phase in 2025 and providing employment to 375 persons.

The SIBP also approved the setting up of a hotel and resort at Annavaram in Visakhapatnam district by May Fair Hotels with an investment of 525 crore, providing direct and indirect employment to 750 persons. The hotel project, consisting of villas, a shopping mall and a golf course, will be completed in four years.

The SIBP has also approved the proposal of the Hayat Group to set up an international hotel at Peruru near Tirupati with an investment of 218 crore. This would provide direct employment to 260 persons and indirect employment to 1,300 persons. It could be ready in three years.

The CCL Food and Beverages got the green signal to set up a unit at Krishnapalem near Atchutapuram in Visakhapatnam district with an investment of 1,200 crore. This would provide employment to 1,800 persons.

The SIPB also approved proposals of the CCL Food and Beverages to set up its unit at Varadaiahpalem in Tirupati district with an investment of 400 crore. This would provide direct and indirect employment to 950 persons and benefit 2,500 coffee-growing farmers. It would produce 16,000 tonnes of coffee a year.

The Gokul Agro Resources would set up an edible oil making unit at Krishnapatnam in Nellore district with an investment of 230 crore. It would provide direct and indirect employment to 1,200 persons, besides benefiting 2,500 farmers.

Gokul Agro will also set up a cocoa butter and powder making unit at Sri City in Tirupati district with an investment of 168 crore. This would provide direct employment to 250 persons and indirect employment to 800 persons, besides benefiting 3,000 farmers.

Deputy chief minister  Muthyala Naidu, IT and industries minister G. Amarnath, municipal administration minister Adimulapu Suresh, tourism minister R.K. Roja, agriculture minister Govardhan Reddy, chief secretary Jawahar Reddy and others participated in the SIPB meeting.
