Vijayawada:The Padma Awards announced by the Government of India on the occasion of Republic Day have brought pride to the Telugu-speaking states, with several eminent personalities being honoured for their outstanding contributions across diverse fields. Housing, Information and Public Relations Minister Kolusu Parthasarathi extended heartfelt congratulations to all the award recipients, particularly those from the Telugu community.
He said the conferment of the Padma Bhushan on world-renowned oncologist Nori Dattatreya is a significant recognition for the medical fraternity and reflects India’s growing global stature in healthcare and research.
In the field of arts and cinema, veteran actors Rajendra Prasad and Murali Mohan were awarded the Padma Shri for their decades-long contributions to Telugu cinema. The Minister described the honour as a matter of pride for the cultural and artistic heritage of Telugu people.
The Padma Shri awarded to eminent Sanskrit scholar and poet Vempati Kutumba Sastry was hailed as a major recognition for Telugu and Sanskrit literature. Similarly, the honour conferred on noted classical musician Garimella Balakrishna Prasad, who composed music for over 600 Annamacharya keerthanas and popularised them among the masses, was termed a landmark moment for Indian classical music.
The Minister congratulated all recipients of the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awards across various disciplines, stating that their achievements serve as an inspiration to future generations and enhance the nation’s cultural, intellectual and professional legacy
