Amaravati: State BC, EWS Welfare, Weavers and Textiles Secretary S. Savitha said that handloom workers will be trained according to the trend... and marketing facilities will be provided for handlooms. On ThursdaySavitha visited Machavaram Weavers Service Center in Vijayawada city. That central DD Anil Sahu explained to the minister the details of the programs being carried out at the Weaver Centre. The minister spoke to the students and handloom workers undergoing training at the centre. Later, she told the reporters that the handloom workers suffered in all kinds of ways during the previous government. He said that since Chandrababu took charge as CM, the golden era for handlooms has started. He said that according to the changing seasons, the weavers are being trained in the manufacture of garments. Apart from training in making new designs, they are also trained in dyeing with expert trainers. Minister Savitha said that they are providing marketing facility for the manufactured garments instead of just training. Six thousand people have been trained through the Weaver Service Center. 5,302 new designs are created and training is provided at the service center. The minister revealed that 375 training classes will be conducted in the current financial year, through which 20 people will be trained per batch.

He said that the Weaver Shala established by the State IT and Human Resources Minister Nara Lokesh is providing training to many people as well as providing self-employment. He said that hundreds of families are getting employment through Weaver Shala, which is a very happy thing. While working in the weaver hall, women are also employed near their homes. CM Chandrababu and Minister Lokesh are determined to develop handloom weavers in all ways. Minister Savitha said that all the schemes implemented between 2014-19 will be implemented for the upliftment of the leaders. Apart from providing training on new designs to keep up with the trend in the manufacture of handwoven garments, marketing facilities will also be provided for the produced garments. Exhibitions for the sale of handwoven cloths will be arranged keeping in view the upcoming Dussehra festival. Health cards will be provided to the handloom workers along with the required facilities from the government. In the wake of the recent rains, reports have been brought on the losses of handloom workers and compensation will also be provided. The minister revealed that the handloom workers whose houses were completely submerged will be given a compensation of Rs.25,000 and an additional Rs.5,000 for yarn. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Lokesh said that providing financial security to handloom families is the aim. He assured that the government will support the handloom workers in all ways.

Earlier, Minister Savitha...weaver had greeted the women and workers working in the hall. The women said that they are getting up to Rs. 500 per day and apart from this, they are also working on their own at home and are becoming financially stronger. He said that Jack sewing machines were distributed to them courtesy of Minister Lokesh. He told the minister that orders are also being brought and this is helping them to strengthen themselves financially.
