Jagananna Suraksha will cover 1.6crore families in 15,004 village: CM YS Jagan

    STAFF REPORTER
    • June 24,2023

Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday launched the month-long Jagananna Suraksha programme. This would enroll all eligible left-over beneficiaries into the state’s welfare schemes and resolve people’s issues on the grievance-redressal platform Jaganannaku Chebudam.

The massive exercise of reaching out to the poor involves lakhs of officials and people’s representatives. This, the chief minister said, was unprecedented in the country. He launched the programme from the Camp Office here.

Launching the programme in virtual mode, the CM said that eligible persons requiring social welfare support from the government would be given the required certificates and enrolled as beneficiaries in these camps.
Senior officials and local MLA would personally attend the camps and help in the resolution of such grievances.

Jagan Reddy explained, "Jagananna Suraksha will cover 1.6crore families in 15,004 village and ward secretariats, facilitating a scenario of officials reaching out to every household in person. Officials would go and meet 5.3crore citizens of this state."

He said, "Jagananna Suraksha will handhold all left-out but eligible beneficiaries from the stage of enrollment to delivery of welfare benefits. It is especially aimed at extending government services and welfare schemes to all eligible persons. While Janmabhoomi Committees during the Telugu Desam rule harassed people by seeking bribes from them for extending the welfare benefits, we have been extending 600 types of services at the village-level through secretariats in a transparent manner, without any bias, for the last four years and eligibility was the only criteria for extending these benefits."

So far, eligible people irrespective of caste, creed and political loyalties, have received welfare benefits worth Rs 3.10 lakh crore through Navaratnalu including Rs 2.16 lakh crore through DBT mode –vis-à-vis the welfare schemes in full transparency and thereby ushering in real Grama Swaraj, the CM said.

"Some 98 to 99 per cent of the eligible people are receiving welfare benefits. We are enrolling the left-out people into the welfare schemes through bi-annual exercises in July and December. Still, there may be some people uncovered for any reason even after grievance redressal through Jaganannaku Chebudam. All those grievances would be effectively addressed in Jagananna Suraksha," he added.

Jagan Reddy said Suraksha camps would be held at secretariat level in every Mandal from July 1.

"The volunteers, secretariat conveners, Gruhasaradhulu, public representatives and other enthusiasts would visit the families from tomorrow and find out the details of people uncovered by the welfare schemes despite having eligibility," the chief minister said.
He explained that officials consisting of MPDO and deputy tahsildar in the first team would participate in the camps. Panchayat Raj EO and tahsildar in the second team would do so at mandal level. The municipal commissioner and his staff in the first team and zonal commissioner and his staff in the second team would participate in the camps in urban areas. These would be supervised by district collectors and other senior officers.

CM Jagan stated, "The camps would also resolve people’s complaints on non-receipt of 11 types of certificates including those of marriage, birth, death, caste, income and ration cards."

Interacting with the CM virtually, district collectors explained the steps being taken to conduct the outreach programme successfully. He advised them to make all arrangements at the camps so that people would not be inconvenienced.

Deputy chief minister  Mutyala Naidu, revenue minister Prasada Rao, education minister Satyanarayana, municipal administration minister A Suresh, chief secretary Jawahar Reddy, DGP Rajendranath Reddy, Special chief secretaries Ajay Jain (housing) and Gopalakrishna Dwivedi (agriculture), civil supplies secretary Arun Kumar, CCLA secretary Imtiaz, housing corporation MD Lakshmi Shah, municipal administration commissioner Koteswara Rao,  Panchayat Raj commissioner  Surya Kumari, additional director of  village and ward secretariats Bhavana and other senior officials were present.
