CM Chandrababu Naidu visits Jurong Petrochemical Island in Singapore
Singapore, July 29: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that an industrial-logistics corridor will be developed connecting the coastal ports of Kakinada, Machilipatnam, and Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Along with linking these ports, a world-class oil refinery will also be established near them, he added.
As part of the third day of his Singapore visit, the Chief Minister, accompanied by a delegation of ministers, visited the prestigious Jurong Petrochemical Island. The delegation observed the integrated industrial project developed by Singapore on Jurong Island, along with other essential infrastructure facilities. Singapore has constructed an integrated petrochemical plant and energy center on this island, which was created through land reclamation from the sea.
The delegation, led by the Chief Minister, was warmly received by Surbana Jurong’s Deputy Director Mr. Teo Eng Keat and Chief Executive Mr. Andie Lee, who provided a guided tour of the Jurong Petrochemical Centre. They explained the strategic significance and the range of critical services provided by the center.
The officials presented the planning process behind the center's development, showcased various utility models, and explained the logistics infrastructure. The Chief Minister and the ministers were also briefed on the crude oil processing system at the petrochemical center, along with the production of polymers, fuels, and specialty chemicals.
Jurong Petrochemical Island authorities stated that approximately 3,000 hectares of sea had been converted into land to develop the hub, which meets international standards. They also mentioned that the prestigious project was developed under a public-private partnership model. The delegation was informed that, apart from the main industrial facilities, the island also includes a waste management plant and a comprehensive security system. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed his desire for Singapore-based companies to join Andhra Pradesh’s industrial progress as global partners.
Ministers Nara Lokesh, P. Narayana, T.G. Bharat, along with senior officials from Andhra Pradesh, accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit to Jurong Petrochemical Island.
