The meeting marked an important step towards fostering sustainable Natural farming practices. The discussion was attended by eminent officials, including Shri T. Vijay Kumar, Executive Vice Chairman, RySS, Dr. Sriram Venkittaramana IAS, Director of Agriculture – Kerala, Sri. Thomas Samuel, Additional Director of Agriculture and other Senior officials.
During the meeting, P. Prasad, Minister of Agriculture, Kerala expressed keen interest in launching natural farming across 64 designated plots in Kerala as part of a government-backed initiative to promote eco-friendly and sustainable Natural farming. K. Atchannaidu emphasized the significance of certification and traceability in natural farming, ensuring quality control and accountability, aligning with the vision of the CM of Andhra Pradesh.
P. Prasad conveyed congratulations on behalf of the Kerala Chief Minister and the government, appreciating the efforts towards advancing natural farming initiatives. Dr. Aparna B. proposed the introduction of a PG Diploma in Natural Farming at the Agriculture College, Vellayani, to create a strong academic foundation in sustainable agriculture.
T. Vijay Kumar highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to climate-resilient farming and shared insights from the recent Davos Conference, where the Honourable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu, discussed the farmer-scientist course, which aims to bridge the gap between farmers and scientific advancements. Shri K. Atchannaidu emphasized the importance of soil sample collection, a crucial step for analyzing soil health and ensuring effective implementation of natural farming techniques.
Looking ahead, K. Atchannaidu stated that he will plan an official visit to Kerala to inaugurate the state’s natural farming initiatives, strengthening the collaborative efforts between Andhra Pradesh and Kerala for a greener, more sustainable agricultural future. This meeting served as a milestone in promoting natural farming, with both states reaffirming their commitment to advancing sustainable agricultural practices for the welfare of farmers and environmental conservation.
